Henri Coandă International Airport operates from a single, unified terminal building organised into three connected areas: the Departures Hall, the Arrivals Hall, and the airside Finger concourse used for boarding. Arriving passengers clear immigration — which can take up to an hour for non-Schengen flights during busy periods — collect bags, then walk into the arrivals hall. The drive into the city follows the DN1 national road southbound, the direct artery connecting the airport with central Bucharest and feeding into the wider road network. During the weekday morning and evening rush, however, inbound traffic on the DN1 around Băneasa and the approach to Piața Victoriei regularly pushes the trip beyond 40 minutes, so allow extra buffer for tight onward connections.

Romania uses the electronic rovinieta vignette for roads outside urban limits, while central Bucharest enforces the Oxygen vignette low-emission scheme that bars Euro 2 and older cars from the Air Quality Action Zone.
