Transfer from Salalah Airport to Seasonal Waterfalls of the Wadis (Darbat)

The route leaves Salalah on Route 49, the Taqah Road, heading east along the coastal plain. Taqah town and its castle sit along the way, a useful landmark that tells you the mountains are close. From there the road narrows and the landscape shifts toward the Dhofar Mountains, with the Qara range rising ahead.

At Salalah Airport your driver meets you at the arrivals baggage-hall exit of the terminal where your flight lands, holding a name sign. Allow roughly 45 minutes to an hour for the drive, which is typically quicker outside the morning and late-afternoon city peaks. The final approach to Wadi Darbat is narrow and steep, with camels crossing on blind turns, so the driver slows down. Parking is generally free but can fill during weekends and peak hours. The waterfall is roughly 2 kilometres from the car park, so wear proper walking shoes. Facilities are basic and there are no ATMs, so bring cash and water.

Taxis can be hired at the airport, but fares for the trip are not fixed, so you negotiate on arrival and have no guaranteed return. Public transport is the weaker option: Mwasalat Line 104 runs to Taqah Castle, but from there you still need a taxi for the final stretch, which adds time and a second fare. Wadi Darbat has no direct public transport link, so a pre-booked private transfer is the most direct and predictable choice.
