Chasing Summer … in the Autumn!

5 minutes read

For many, autumn is a welcome “restart” and a return to the cool air that’s often missed in summer. But for die-hard beach lovers, for those who can’t live without swimming in the water, the arrival of September is like the beginning of a long “mourning.” How can you survive this trauma? By chasing summer in the midst of autumn. If you have the means, including the financial means, to do so… it’s always nice to move to a place where the summer warmth lingers. Or even where the seasons are reversed, so October coincides with May! Want some tips on the ideal locations for 2025 to experience a “summer autumn”? We’ve selected five where, once you land, you’ll find excellent private transportation options to take you to the most captivating beaches and seaside destinations.

Tenerife

If you want to stay in Europe, head to the Canary Islands, which are part of Spain despite being located off the west coast of Africa. Of all the islands, Tenerife is the most famous because it offers a variety of landscapes suitable for any type of traveler.

The great cone of the Teide volcano, which can be climbed with a licensed guide, is undoubtedly the most important natural monument. The view from its summit is worth the strenuous climb. The many spectacular beaches (Los Gigantes, La Tejita, del Duque, Teresitas… just to name a few!) are the primary reason tourists book a trip to Tenerife. Not only for swimming and sunbathing, but also for diving and long walks, aided by the consistently pleasant climate.

The “shoulder seasons,” spring and autumn, are the best times to choose a holiday on this fascinating island, served by two airports: Tenerife North (TFN) and Tenerife South (TFS).

Madagascar

Madagascar is a huge island, the vanguard of that geological Africa that is shifting ever further east every year. Visiting it all is impossible, but choosing a few ideal locations for a beautiful “warm” autumn holiday – especially near the capital, Antananarivo – is easy.

Indeed, along the RN7 road that leads from the capital to the sea, you can explore numerous destinations perfect for beach lovers. The Vezo Coast, the coastline east of Antananarivo, is home to some spectacular wild beaches (Tulear, Anakao, etc.), while just offshore, the small archipelago of the Nosy Be Islands boasts the warm sandy beaches of Nosy Be, Nosy Iranja, and Nosy Tanikely. The latter are the most popular with autumn tourists, thanks to the beauty of their eternally summery yet not-too-sweltering climate.

To reach them, book the most comfortable and convenient transfers departing from Antananarivo Airport (TNR).

Mauritius

Mauritius, like Fiji, has long been synonymous with vacations for the wealthy. They were, in fact, the autumn and winter destinations for those who had plenty of money and didn’t need to work, as well as being able to afford such long trips. Today, these two destinations are affordable for almost everyone.

At Mauritius ( land at Mauritius Airport – MRU) the island’s crystal-clear waters are ideal for snorkeling and diving, providing an up-close encounter with vibrant marine life and intriguing coral reefs. Beyond the beach, the interior of Mauritius is a treasure trove of natural wonders, from the verdant Black River Gorges National Park to the iconic Seven Coloured Earths of Chamarel. Cultural aficionados will revel in the island’s rich tapestry of history and heritage. The fusion of European, African, Indian, and Chinese influences is evident in the island’s delectable cuisine, colorful festivals, and warm, welcoming locals. The best beaches are Blue Bay, Flic-en-Flac, Le Morne and Chamarel.

Fiji

Your classic Fiji holiday in Autumn will start from Nadi, where the main international airport (NAN) lies. Nadi’s Main Street offers a bustling experience with colorful shops, tantalizing local eateries, and the famous Nadi Market. Engage with friendly locals, taste exotic fruits, and discover the intricate craft of Fijian artistry. Cultural enthusiasts will revel in a visit to the Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple, an architectural marvel adorned with traditional Dravidian carvings – an Instagram-worthy sight that should top every visitor’s list.

Adventure awaits in the nearby Sabeto Mountains where hiking trails lead to awe-inspiring views, or slip into serenity in the therapeutic mud pools and hot springs. Nadi is also the perfect launchpad for island-hopping tours to the pristine Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands, where crystal-clear waters and coral reefs offer world-class snorkeling and scuba diving. Also try the stunning shores of Wailoaloa Beach and do not miss the many lovely “festivals” local people organize on the beaches.

September and October are the best period for booking your holiday at Fiji and enjoy the warm ocean water, while all your friends in Europe will be facing rain and wind!

Durban

Located on the east coast of South Africa, looking toward India from which it has absorbed migration and culture, this quiet modern city is also an enchanting seaside resort. It is known for its “Golden Mile,” an endless strip of sand that plunges into a crystal-clear sea. Suitable for families as well as adventurous surfers on windy days, Durban’s long beach is the ideal place to spend autumn… which here in South Africa corresponds to late spring in Europe.

Between swimming in the sea and a safari in the splendid inland reserves, you can also explore the city of Durban, the neighboring autonomous states of indigenous communities (Lesotho above all), and the fascinating mountains covered in pristine forests. How could you not want to leave immediately… knowing you can count on the efficiency of Durban Airport (DUR) upon your arrival?
