Sicily has rightfully entered the 52 top tourist destinations for 2025. The New York Times writes this, going even beyond the classic stereotype of the island as a holiday paradise. Sicily has always been a tourist destination, but this year it will be even more so… because it will also offer itself in its most hidden corners.

The New York Times in particular indicates as an “ideal Sicilian destination” an ecological path to follow horizontally, a road that divides Sicily in two, from Trapani to Catania and vice versa. You can walk the route promoted by Sicily Divide on foot, or go by bike or with eco-friendly means and enjoy the discovery of corners never considered before. Obviously Trapani, Enna, Palermo and Catania – the four capitals involved in the project – have plenty of monuments to visit. But between one center and the other, the villages, abandoned hamlets and farms are the treasure to be discovered. By following the Trapani-Catania route, therefore, you immerse yourself in an authentic Sicily that is still little exploited by tourism. By doing so with ecological means, you greatly limit human invasion and protect these dream landscapes. New places to discover
Along the Sicily Divide route, tourists can walk slowly through hills, pastures, fields and farmhouses. And also… Montedoro, Enna, Calascibetta, Regalbuto, Lake Pozzillo, Agira … and finally Mount Etna! And the black baroque of the city of Catania, a scenario in which you will enjoy tasting good food and having fun at night.
The immortal destinations
Discovering the secret Sicily of the internal provinces will be an emotion to be fully experienced. But this does not take away the magic of the classic destinations of a Sicilian trip. If you can, in fact, go and visit the great volcano Etna, the Greek ruins of Syracuse and Agrigento, the original historic center of Messina, Taormina, Ragusa, or the discreet beauty of Caltanissetta and the smaller islands. Sicily is a “top destination” forever.
