The new year 2025 has begun a few months ago and, after a very respectable winter, we expect a warm season that is at least balanced and that will allow everyone to move easily and without too many “climate dramas”. In view of the 2025 tourist season, here are the destinations considered “top” by the main experts in the sector. With great surprise – but not too much! – here emerges among the many also an Italian location. And it is a surprising location for the ascending parabola it has had in just 60 years! Do you want to find out which one?
Holidays 2025 : book your trip to …
For your 2025 holidays, book the ideal trip to Lithuania, the Fiji Islands, the Philippines or Italy, and precisely to Matera! These are the “top” destinations identified for the current year by experts who usually evaluate the attractiveness based on wonders to admire, hospitality and value for money. Italy is almost always on the list, but every year it surprises with the emergence of places that are not always “traditionally touristic”. Today it is the turn of Matera, a jewel of the south, underestimated for too many years. Among the secondary 2025 destinations, Lesotho, Spain (Galicia), Saudi Arabia and Italy with the lesser-known routes of inner Sicily and Corinaldo in the region Marche.
Lithuania: the wonder of Vilnius and Lake Galvé
The mild climate of Lithuania attracts more and more tourists every year, especially in summer. Fleeing the sultry temperatures of much of Europe, people seek the ideal relaxation in Lithuania’s “eternal spring” , so to better explore the territory. If Lithuania is splendid in its entirety, with its wooded expanses and beaches overlooking the Baltic Sea, we suggest two destinations in particular for 2025: the capital Vilnius and Lake Galvé.
Vilnius is located in the inland heart of the nation, at the confluence of two rivers. Of ancient Germanic tradition, it resembles more a Central European capital than a Slavic city. In summer, the climate is as pleasant as an average European spring and is ideal for exploring the capital and its surroundings. To admire: the Old Town, rich in neoclassical and Gothic architecture, which also includes the Jewish Quarter, the Hill of Three Crosses and Gedeminas Tower. Don’t miss the Uzupis district with its colorful shops and markets. Nearby, it is worth visiting the city of Kaunas and the Dzukijos National Park. In the territory of the town of Trakai – a half-hour drive from Vilnius – lies the wonderful Lake Galvé, full of wooded fjords and islets. In the center, on an island, stands a grand castle with a fairy-tale feel.
For your trip to Lithuania, the reference airport is Vilnius (VNO).
Magical Fiji
There are more than 800 Fiji islands and it is literally impossible to indicate a guide to visit them all. Of these 800 islands, 522 are very small islets, 322 are larger lands but only 106 of these are inhabited. When talking about Fiji, many head straight for the capital, Suva (Viti Levu island) famous for its parks, beaches, cathedral and elegant colonial architecture. Those looking for dream beaches, in particular, will instead head for Beqa Lagoon, Malolo Island, Modriki Island, Tokoriki Island. Other places not to be missed: Sabeto Hot Springs, Kadavu Barrier Reef, Yasawa Caves, Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park (Viti Levu).
To reach Fiji, Nadi Airport (NAN) is the main international airport from which ferry connections and regional flights to the other islands depart.
Philippines: enjoy Palawan, the Cordillera and Cebu
Another archipelago enters the list of ideal tourist destinations for 2025: the Philippine Islands. In this case too, it is about thousands of lands scattered across the sea and therefore visiting them all is impossible in a short time. The suggestion for 2025 is to go beyond the capital, Manila, and focus on three different locations that, however, will surprise you.
Palawan, the largest province of the archipelago (spread over hundreds of different islands), is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Just to name a few, El Nido, Cabanas, Sabang, Secret Lagoon, Onok. Among the most fascinating towns, Puerto Princesa and El Nido. The Cordillera region, in the north of the large island of Luzon, is a fascinating place for its originality. The beaches here are not the protagonists, but the views of the mountains, rice fields, mines fascinate the most adventurous tourists. If you want a complete vacation in the Philippines, choose the island of Cebu: forests, waterfalls, dream beaches and towns rich in history … they also host national parks and hot springs.
Manila Aquino Airport (MNL) is the reference airport from which to take regional flights to reach the other islands.
Matera, jewel of Southern Italy
In the 1950s, Matera was considered “the shame of Italy” and until the early 1970s it was a place abandoned to degradation. No one would have bet anything on a city where half the population lived inside “caves” together with their animals … . Today, instead, those very caves have become the main attraction and also very popular resorts for tourists. The houses built in the caves (the Sassi quarter) enjoy natural insulation – warm in winter, cool in summer – due to the properties of the tuff stone, which allows significant energy savings for modern tourist accommodation. Also thanks to the cinema that uses it as a set, modern Matera enjoys an important (and deserved!) tourist fame.
To reach it, the closest airport is Bari (BRI) even if many prefer to land in Naples (NAP). Both airports are well connected to the city by bus lines and private transfer services.
