Five luxury places you can afford in September

6 minutos de lectura

Autumn is an ideal time to discover luxury destinations without spending as much as during high season. Places that until a few weeks ago were reserved only for millionaires, as soon as September arrives become accessible even to those earning a few thousand dollars less! They’re certainly not «for everyone» … but not for the very few either. Among the most interesting destinations is Dubai, where prestigious hotels can offer more affordable rates than in summer. This is also the case with New York, where airfare and accommodation prices skyrocket during the summer, only to return to normal as soon as August is over. Why not try booking a «luxury» vacation in Fiji, a paradise for a select few, at least while the summer heat lasts? We also suggest Zanzibar and, in Italy, some destinations in Puglia. Traveling in autumn therefore allows for exclusive experiences and emotions. All you have to do is treat yourself!

Dubai

Dubai, the city of billionairs and kings, is an absolutely must-try vacation in September. Not only because the climate remains summery and pleasant, but above all because many «luxury places» are lowering prices and making themselves accessible to everyone. Why not treat yourself to the dream of a hotel overlooking the gulf, a trip to the desert, or an affordable gourmet restaurant—if all this is possible in September? Fly to Dubai Airport (DXB) and embark on this unique experience.

Tourist itineraries in the city of the sheiks include climbing to the top floors of the mega skyscrapers Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab, visits to aquariums, wild shopping in the famous «Malls» (covered shop arcades), night tours of the historic Bastakiya district, desert trips, boat trips on Dubai Creek… a sort of artificial fjord that connects the city directly to the nearby gulf. Do not miss the experience of tasting some of the best traditional Arabian dishes in Michelin-starred restaurants that you could often only dream of!

New York

New York never ceases to attract tourists, even in autumn. But September sees a slight drop in prices, making the «Big Apple» more accessible to everyone. Once you land at JFK Airport, in addition to the standard itineraries (Statue of Liberty, climbing the Empire State Building, photos of the Brooklyn Bridge, Coney Island, Central Park, Soho, visits to the MOMA, visits to the 9/11 Memorial, etc.), in September you will enjoy events such as the US Open Tennis Tournament, the opening of Broadway Theater Week, or the Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy. And you can do all that without worrying about how much you’ll spend, because all expenses will be contained. If you are lucky enough you might also see the beginning of the autumn colors in the city parks this month, which will soon be colored with yellow and red leaves!

September in Fiji

Fiji is a South Pacific archipelago famous for its dream beaches, crystal-clear waters, and pristine nature. Very trendy a few years ago, it was briefly forgotten and has recently been rediscovered, especially by very wealthy people!

Among the most interesting islands to visit is Viti Levu, the largest and home to the capital, Suva. Here, you can explore local markets, tropical gardens, and traditional villages, as well as take excursions into the interior. The Yasawa Islands are certainly not to be missed, characterized by white beaches, turquoise lagoons, and spectacular landscapes. They are a paradise for snorkeling, diving, and boat trips. The beaches of the Mamanuca Islands are also internationally renowned, while diving enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Coral Coast (also on the largest island).

While September is still a great month for enjoying the sea and diving, we suggest taking advantage of the drop in prices to book excursions, such as those to Taveuni’s tropical park, the Bouma National Heritage Park, famous for its millions of flowers. Book boat trips to the various islands, dedicating special time to the regional markets and marine festivals.
The nearest airport for your trip to Fiji is Nadi Airport (NAN).

Returning to Zanzibar

If you have never been to Zanzibar, go; if you have been a thousand times, come back now, in September! September is one of the best months because the temperatures here are pleasant, generally around 25-30°C, and the sea is ideal for relaxing and enjoying water activities.

In particular, head to the beaches on the east coast, such as Paje and Jambiani, famous for their white sand and turquoise waters. This month, conditions are particularly suitable for kitesurfing, especially in the Paje area, where favorable winds blow. For those who prefer something more tranquil, snorkeling or diving is possible to admire the coral reef and rich marine life. It’s worth dedicating at least a day to Stone Town, the historic center of Zanzibar City. Strolling through the alleys, visiting the market, and admiring the characteristic carved doors allows you to discover the island’s history and culture. Another popular excursion is to Prison Island, where you can see the famous giant tortoises and snorkel.

September is also a great time for a sunset boat trip or to visit a spice plantation, an activity that allows you to experience the island’s typical aromas and products. Your nearest airport will be Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ).

Puglia in September… why not?

Although Italy’s luxury destinations are mostly Venice, Sardinia, and Sicily, the region Puglia (or Apulia, the Italian boot’s heel!) has recently attracted many millionaires, particularly Russians and Chinese. It goes without saying that even in Puglia, some places are inaccessible to «mere mortals» in summer, but September gives everyone a chance.

You can land comfortably in Bari (BRI) and from there, with a tailor-made chauffeured transfer, travel to discover places like Lecce, Ostuni, and the Gargano Peninsula, perhaps staying in high-quality hotels.

In addition to Puglia’s splendid beaches, top September experiences include visits and tastings at masserie (farmhouses), visiting village festivals and markets, and taking guided tours of Lecce’s Baroque architecture, the wild coves of the Gargano Peninsula, and the famous trulli houses of Alberobello—now a symbol of luxury tourism in the area. Not far from Alberobello, the views and masserie of the Itria Valley can add a touch of excitement to your September Italian vacation.
