Five dream beaches in China

5 minuti di lettura

Have you ever thought of a tropical vacation… in China? It is certainly not the first country that comes to mind when you speak of beaches and sun, yet along the vast body of the “Dragon” lie hidden, unknown and truly magical locations. Miles of beaches, palm trees, shimmering seas, panoramas reminiscent of the Maldives or the Caribbean, yet you are still in the austere industrial power nation of China, the same country that struggles against pollution in its cities and rivers! Vacationing in China is still a bit challenging due to the country’s many restrictive laws, but if you can, choose one of these dream beaches! Some airports are served by our private chauffeured transfers, others are not yet operational, but you can also use our services to/from various tourist facilities. Find out more about available routes on our website.

Sanya Beach in Hainan

Yalong Beach, on Sanya Bay, is China’s most famous beach. It is like a Chinese Malibu or an Asian Miami Beach, both for its beauty and for the crowds of VIPs who have chosen it as their favorite vacation spot.

Located on the southern coast of the island-province of Hainan – a wild land still steeped in ancient traditions of the H-Lai culture (named after the indigenous population which bears little resemblance to Chinese culture in general) – Sanya’s long sandy beach is the most booked tourist destination by Chinese travel agencies. In addition to swimming and diving— so to explore the beautiful underwater coral reef—Sanya beach offers a variety of water sports and, above ground, restaurants, luxury shops, and prestigious hotels. Two observation points, near Century Square and near Forest Park, also offer beautiful views.

The nearest airport is the local Sanya Phoenix Airport, which welcomes domestic flights to and from Hong Kong Airport (HKG). You can also land in Zhanjiang and travel to the island by public transport, a four-hour drive trip.

Beihai’s Silver Beach

Yin Tan, or Silver Beach, is a spectacle of fine sand on the coast of Beihai, in southern China. To reach it, fly to the local airport, with direct flights from Hong Kong, Shanghai (PVG), and Beijing Capital (PEK).

Silver Beach stretches for over 10 kilometers and literally sparkles in the sun, as its grains are composed of 98% pure quartz. Known and exploited for over 40 years as a seaside tourist destination, it relies on the services of the nearby city of Yin Tan and is perfect for large groups, families, and especially children. Despite attracting many visitors each summer, this beach is not among the most crowded, allowing for a peaceful holiday. Recently, the city has adopted environmental measures to further improve the health of its sea and the surrounding nature.

Huangdao’s Golden Beach

Located on the Yellow Sea to the east, facing the coast of Korea, Huangdao’s Golden Beach is another favorite destination for Chinese beach tourism.

Famous for its pink sand, it is rich in shells washed up there by the waves of its turquoise sea. Lined by a promenade with gardens, hotels, restaurants, and all kinds of services, it welcomes crowds of tourists of all kinds: adventurers, families, couples, and organized groups. Watching the sunrise from Golden Beach, with the warm colors that gave it its name, is an experience not to be missed.
The closest airport is Qingdao, which can be reached via direct flights from Beijing airports.

Xi Chong No. 4: the surfers’ beach

If you like to experience the sea fully, actively, and bravely, book a stay at Xi Chong, specifically at the so-called “Number 4” beach. In China, it is famous for its surfing waves, especially popular with young people.

You are back on the south coast, near Guangzhou, and very close to both Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The peninsula that hosts this beach, and the other three with the same name, is Dapeng, where the views are as splendid as the seabed. Of the four beaches, Number 4 is the best if you want to tackle the biggest waves. But it’s also worth choosing it just to enjoy the sun on one of China’s most beautiful coasts. The view of the rounded, forested hills emerging from the sea like alien islands is spectacular!

The nearest airport is Shenzhen (SZX), located at a two-hour drive, by highway trip, from the beach.

Tai Long Wan in Hong Kong

To enjoy Tai Long Wan beach, you have to come to Hong Kong and follow the nature trail of the same name which runs from Sai Kung along the eastern side of Sharp Island. Just 3.5 km long, this strip of white sand is part of a chain of beaches interspersed with headlands and densely forested mountains. This wild scenery makes the experience on this beach even more exciting.

But …remember! You DO NOT come to Tai Long Wan to swim! It is forbidden. Strong ocean currents, high waves, and especially the presence of sharks (and the complete lack of lifeguards!) make swimming impossible, here. However, tourists from around the world love to come just for walking, exploring the surrounding mountains, and enjoying the breathtaking views.

To reach this trail and its dream beaches, simply book a personalized transfer from Hong Kong Airport, 55 km (less than an hour’s drive) from Sai Kung National Park.
